Maddy Schwarz

Maddy is a virologist at GIVAX, where she characterizes preclinical vaccine candidates. This work validates that each component of the virus is functioning as expected and contributes toward selecting candidates for in vivo studies. Previously, she was a fellow at Plum Island Animal Disease Center, where she contributed to developing a vaccine for Foot and Mouth Disease virus. She completed her doctoral work at the Center for Vaccine Research at the University of Pittsburgh, where she investigated the pathogenesis of Rift Valley fever under BSL-3 conditions. Prior to joining GIVAX, she worked at Galapagos developing cellular immunotherapies for solid tumor cancers.
