Abby Velasquez

Research Assistant

Abby is a Research Associate at GIVAX. As a Research Associate, Abby supports the characterization process of candidate vaccine viruses. Before joining GIVAX, Abby was a Research Technician at the University of Pittsburgh where she studied BK Polyomavirus, focusing on factors that support viral replication and mechanisms by which this virus avoids being suppressed. Abby also received a BS in Biological Sciences at The University of Pittsburgh. As a student, she spent time as a lab technician at the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center in a lab that explored the connection between innate immune receptors and cancer.
